About this activity
A tropical butterfly habitat within Preston Park featuring butterflies from around the world, tropical plants and an animal and reptile area. Tickets allow re-entry throughout the day, making it easy to combine with Preston Park Museum, the playground and park grounds. Butterfly World is seasonal and is scheduled to open daily from late February until the end of October in 2026.

Cragside

A large National Trust estate combining an innovative Victorian house with lakes, woodland, gardens and miles of walking routes. Families can visit the adventure play area near Crozier car park and explore Nelly's Moss lakes. The six-mile Carriage Drive connects the main areas. National Trust members and under-fives enter free. House, entrance and grounds have different closing times and winter arrangements vary.
