A 400-acre country park with walking and cycling routes, wildlife habitats, a children's play area, water play feature and an orienteering course. The wider park is always open and free to visit. The countryside centre, car park, toilets and café have shorter opening hours. Water-play availability may be seasonal, so check current park updates before travelling specifically for it.

Forest entry is free, but vehicle parking is charged. The forest is open from dawn until dusk; the listed hours represent access via the Forest Drive.
Northumberland Park
North Shields, NE30 2ES
A restored Victorian park between North Shields and Tynemouth with woodland and lakeside walks, a multi-age play area, BMX pump track, sculpture and orienteering trails, gardens and a visitor centre. The Glasshouse Tea Room and public toilets are available during staffed hours. Park hours change between summer and winter, so check the council page before an early or late visit.
Exhibition Park
Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4PZ
A large city park beside Newcastle's Town Moor with a lake, open lawns, paths, a children's playground, skatepark, outdoor gym and free tennis courts. It is suitable for a short playground visit, picnic or longer walk around the park and Town Moor. The park itself is free to visit. Café availability has recently been subject to change, so do not rely on it being open without checking first.
