About this event
See how Christmas changed from one generation to the next as you wander through Beamish’s decorated towns, farms and homes. At Pockerley, greenery and food displays introduce an 1820s celebration; the Pit Village cottages show a miners’ Christmas, while the 1940s Farm explores ration recipes and handmade gifts. In the 1950s Town, colourful decorations bring a more familiar kind of festive nostalgia. There’s plenty to talk about with children as you compare the celebrations, with shops and food outlets offering treats along the way. Daytime Christmas is included with a Beamish Unlimited Pass or Friends membership. Father Christmas’s grotto is a separately charged booking, so allow for that if a Santa visit is part of your plans. Bring warm layers for walking between the museum’s buildings.
